Procrastination always takes the best of us…especially when there’s a comfy couch in our vicinity, a kitchen with food, or a computer with internet access. Or even as I type this, sending and recieving text messages. So just you don’t get too lost, I present to you The Procrastination Chart:

Highest Grossing films of 2011

Thursday, January 5, 2012
0 Comments so far.

Ever wonder why so many movies are sequels, prequels, remakes, or reboots of extremely popular well known franchises? Are you tired of no originality anymore? Well we got two things to blame: Brand name recognition and you the audience. Yup its all your faults. Today audiences have ADD seeing how we have TVs, Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, The Pirate Bay, etc etc etc. So audiences are less likely to go to the theater to see a movie like “Tyrannosaur” Never heard of Tyrannosaur? Well its in theaters still and has been getting rave reviews yet right now it has only grossed 16 thousand dollars making it the 356th highest grossing film. Audiences want to know what they are seeing before they risk their money going to the theater. Here is a list of the top 20 grossing films this year.

Lets brake this down
1. Harry Potter is the 8th movie in a long running Highly successful franchise
2. Transformer Bark at the Moon is the second sequel to a high grossing movie based of a cartoon based of toys from the 80s.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: OST is a spin off the the extremely successful pirates trilogy.
4. Kung Fu Panda is another sequel.
5. Twilight Saga part 14 or whatever is the 4th movie in the insanely popular Twilight saga.
6. Fast Five is another sequel to a franchise which continually gets horrible reviews and yet still makes money.
7. The Hangover part 2 is a sequel.
8. Smurfs is another movie based off a cartoon.
9. Cars 2 yet agains sequel
10. Rio…hey looks it are first movie on this list that isnt a sequel or based off some popular franchise. Maybe things will look up from here!
11. Rise of the Planet of the Apes…..prequel to a franchise started in the 60s.
12. Thor based off a comic.
13. Puss in boots spin off of the shrek movies.
14. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol sequel.
15. Captain America comic.
16. X-men first class prequel/comic based.
17. Adventurs of Tin Tin comic….starting to see the picture?
18.,19.,20. bridesmaid, Real Steel, Super 8 3 of the 4 movies on this list that isnt a sequel prequel reboot remake or based off a comic.

Audiences only want to see stuff they recognize and the studio is becoming less likely to make risks. Hopefully things will turn around but until we the movie goer start spending our money on original film int he theater the studio will keep making more stupid film based on whatever name sounds familiar. Dont believe me? look at this.

In a recent blog done by Tyler he thought it be a good idea to share cute pictures. In my opinion funny > cuteness. So here are my reasons why!

Ok so last ones could be considered cute and funny. BTW for those of you who are like me and Tyler and can just look at pictures like these all day then check out the site thechive.com! It’s got pictures like this everywhere! Also here is a funny yet educational video about Credit Unions.

Ringing in the New Year

Tuesday, January 3, 2012
0 Comments so far.

What a year 2011 was…and by that I mean pretty mediocre. I had some definite high points and low points, just like every other normal person. But what I noticed was that my high points came from my stand up comedy. I started in May, which was an important time for me. Then in July I performed in Time Square and had my greatest show ever. My low points mainly involved not having a full time job and the adventures of my ex girlfriend, who we will now be calling “whatshername” since I hate mentioning her.

Whatshername ended up being in the 95%. What do you mean Tyler? I WILL TELL YOU, READER. I believe there is a 95 percentile where girls are either crazy, evil, or selfish. On the other hand, there is a 5% that is normal, level headed, and sane. Those are the girls you need to find and date. Unfortunately, there is no real way to tell except with pure patience and time. A female might seem 5% at first…until she twists around and shows her true self. But I severely digress, bottom line is I had my low points due to the 95%. Which shouldn’t be a factor in my life, especially when you’re still maturing as a person and trying to support yourself. I notice my health was presumably better when I was single, which is a sign that stress really plays a factor.

I want 2012 to be a phenomenal year for me. I want to get in great shape, find a full time income, further pursue my stand up career and enjoy myself. I ended up starting of 2012….sitting at home, and I enjoyed myself. I had 3 different dates, 3 nights in a row but couldn’t find something to do Saturday. Everyone was either busy with plans already or working. I deserve that for waiting until the last minute. But like I said, I didn’t mind. I sat home, enjoyed wine, watched the ball drop with my sister and nephew and SAVED MY MONEY. I was going to go to NYC to a nightclub with some people, I ended up not. Then I find out the cover was $60 to get in, not including drinks. Please excuse my language but F THAT. My wallet is a little fatter and I’m a little happier. Not to mention reading Facebook the next day and seeing how many people were constantly puking and in pain. I felt fantastic.

Moral of this story: Take care of yourself first before you take care of someone else. You will be happier, healthier, and mentally stronger. Enjoy yourself this 2012…and I’ll talk to you all soon!

New Year! New Goal!

Monday, January 2, 2012
0 Comments so far.

Alright so let’s be honest how many of us make a new years resolution and then, in about 2 weeks, just drop it. All of us!
There are the typical resolutions such as losing weight.

Giving up junk food.

and my personal favorite, saving money!

Today I’m not going to talk about why you should save with us, (You totally should though) but instead I am going to talk about the importance of saving in general. This is a new year so think of it as a clean slate and start today! Saving in today’s world is a must! We can never really know what is lurking around the corner. Whether it be a car issue, like I had recently, or there is simply something you want to buy. When you save it makes everything much MUCH easier.

Your savings shouldn’t ever be touched unless in complete emergencies, as I said before, or if you are saving for something. The whole purpose of saving is to have a safety net. So this year, after each pay check, put a small amount of it to the side and just let it grow. Who knows, it might just bail you out of a bad situation.

Verizon charging fee to pay your bill

Friday, December 30, 2011
0 Comments so far.

Not only does it cost money to be poor but now it costs you money while its costs you money. Does that make sense? Of course it doesn’t. Verizon is now starting to charge a $2 service fee for paying your bill a certain way, like online for example.

Verizon plans to start charging the fee if you go online or call the company on the phone to pay with a credit or debit card. What Verizon is trying to do is steer customers toward signing up to pay their bills via electronic checks, through automatic payment programs or the old-fashioned way, by paying through mail.

This has caused backlash from many customers of Verizon and reminds us of Bank of America’s $5 debit card fee to retrieve your own money. After overwhelming negative response from Bank of America customers, they decided to retract it. Now Verizon has what they call a “convenience fee. I have Verizon at my home so it should be interesting to see how my dad reacts, especially when you’re cheap…

My Bowling League

Wednesday, December 28, 2011
0 Comments so far.

Before anyone else says it, yes I am in a bowling league, and yes I’m aware that I’m a nerd. That being said, I love it! I have been bowling for about 5 or 6 years now and it’s just a great time. I first started in a youth league where I won a couple tournaments which gained me scholarship money. That money got used up in the first semester, but that’s besides the point. Now I bowl in a men’s league every Wednesday. Now what in the world does this have to do with mine, or your wallet? Well, it’s a money league! Every week I pay $25 to bowl and at the end of the season, depending on how many wins we have, we get a lot of money back!

Now I’m in a pretty competitive league where most bowlers average in to the 200′s, but if you have never bowled and want to get in on something like this, do it! There are leagues for everyone, woman, seniors, or people who simply are getting started. Also there is this thing called a handicap, where you are actually given pins depending on how your average is. It’s an investment, plus it’s a lot of fun! The guys on my team have been bowling with each other for about 15 years now. Granted these guys are much older than I am, to be honest I am the only guy without grey hair on the team, but the point is they continue to do it for fun and get rewarded. Now a lot of the times you don’t get all the money back that you pay, unless you win the championship or something, but by the time it’s all said and done you had a great time and have cash to walk away with. If that isn’t amazing I really don’t know what is.

Unless you’re our very own Tyler Shumen

…..he would probably prefer just to talk about the Taco bells 99 cent cheesy beefy crunch, or whatever it’s called.

Stores and Their “Rewards”

Monday, December 26, 2011
0 Comments so far.

So wherever you shop most likely the store will offer you some kind of rewards card for free. This card takes points, depending how much you spend, and  adds them up so later you are rewarded free money to that particular store. However, be aware of what it is before you agree to it because stores also try and have you sign up for a store credit card. Which is just a credit card with their name on it.

So I wanted to take a minute and tell you all to think before you actually get a credit card!

All of us need a credit card eventually to build credit, but if you are given one at too young of an age it will most likely come back to hurt you. To this day I do not know how, but by the age of 19 I already had 2 credit cards! Sure, at the time I was like “YEAH!!!!”, but now I’m sitting on two credit cards that I owe a lot of money on. Reason being….I was young and stupid. I didn’t think about anything or what I was using it for. McDonald’s one day, gas the next, food later. At the end of the month I would pay only the minimum due and before I knew it my card was declined. So I know what many of you are thinking “Keith, why didn’t you just pay it off?” Well because this was literally just after I bought my car and at that point I didn’t have the money to pay it all off!

So now everyone, when you do get a credit card, make sure you think it through! What is it that your buying? Do you have cash on you that you could use to pay for it instead?

Keep a record or hold on to your receipts and at the end of the week add them up. So next time your at Sears or wherever they offer one, think about it before you jump into the opportunity.
