I hope that I have not dwelled on my favorite sport of skiing, but I feel that it is a strong financial conversation piece. I have spent the last 2 years saving up what now dwindles in my bank account. The winter season rolls around, and as sure as a roller coaster is to drop, I end up dropping half a grand on the pricey sport. Not to sound like a skiing snob, but I think that people who are into the sport should take actions to lower the cost of trips.
MY JAY PEAK, VT NEW YEARS TRIP:
Group rate 5 day lift ticket – $250.00 … The most expensive part of the trip, thanks to some smart pricing
Food and Drink – $100.00 …Definitely below average, thanks to low price groceries at Aldi food markets, along with BJ’s!
Lodging – $100.00 …When 14 guys are staying in a ski on, ski off condo for 6, the prices tend to drop.

So…not a badly priced trip, although I’m still dropping a strong amount of money on the trip. Just be smart and save, don’t stop off like some lame tourist for a fast food run, and try to plan out your spending to shop around and save.
