After a brief hiatus, it’s time for more Zaction News! I know everyone can hardly contain their excitement, but I want to make sure everyone remembers how this works. I give you three news stories pertaining to money in some way (since we are a Credit Union), and you pick which one of the three is fake! here we go…..
The first story today is about a pair of teenagers who went fishing and caught $87,000 in a lake in Australia. The money was found near a celebration of marijuana smoking, leading police to believe the money may not have originally been acquired in a legal way. The teenagers could potentially get to keep the money, however, if there is no legitimate claim to it. Sounds like these young fisherman could be pretty wealthy!

Our second story today is about a 30 year old San Francisco man who was cleaning out his parents house while moving them into a retirement community when he stumbled across a stock certificate for Sears and Roebuck from the 1950’s. The estimated value of his shares in Sears are roughly $475,000. The man asked his parents about the certificates, and his father mentioned that he must have purchased them with some of the money he received from fighting in World War II. He assumes he just filed it away and forgot about it. I guess that’s a pretty nice surprise to find in your garage!

The final story today is about a coffee spill that will cost a St. Louis college $200,000. A coffee maker was hooked up to a faucet in a lab and left on, which eventually caused a ruptured water line, spilling 10,000 gallons of water in the building, and causing immense property damage. The school is hoping their insurance will cover at least some of the damage, but that is still going to be one expensive cup of coffee!

That’s it for this week! pick the fake story and keep checking out projectflipside.com!
